Caverne d’Ali Baba nichée au cœur des vastes souks de la médina marrakchi, dans le mythique quartier El Ksour, le Palais Saadien fut fondé en 1978. Il constitue aujourd’hui l’ossature des six points de vente de la “Maison Abouothman”, entreprise familiale née dans la ville rouge au début des années 40.

Connu pour la vente de tapis ancestraux, reconnu pour sa virtuosité dans la production de tapis traditionnels, le Palais Saadien propose un des plus larges choix de pièces arabes et berbères du marché. Ces créations ethniques, œuvres métissées souvent très anciennes, accompagnent en boutique des objets de collection et du mobilier de luxe. Un savant alliage de tradition et de modernité, fruit d’un travail assidu, qui répond aux attentes de la clientèle la plus exigeante.

_An Ali Baba’s cave nestled in the heart of the vast souks of the Marrakchy Medina, in the legendary district El Ksour, the Palais Saadien was founded in 1978. It is today the backbone to the “Maison Abouothman” outlets, a family business born in the red city during the early 40s.

Famous for the sale of ancestral carpets, recognized for its traditional carrpet’s craftsmanship, the Palais Saadien offers one of the widest choices of Arab and Berber rugs on the market. These mixed creations and ancient ethnic pieces accompany in shop a selection of collector’s items and luxury furniture. Maison Abouothman

L’histoire de la Maison Abouothman débute dans une modeste boutique de la médina du Marrakech des années 40, “Château des souks”, où Hadj Kabour et son frère ainé offrent à la vente un large choix de tapis arabes et berbères. Arpentant les coopératives et villages des montagnes de l’Atlas, ils donnaient à tisser et dénichaient d’authentiques pièces uniques d’Azilal, de Beni Ouarain, Boucherouite, Kilims, Mrir’t, etc., anciennes et précieuses.

À la fin des années 70, le fils d’Hadj Kabour, Hadj Abderrazak, élargit l’offre de la boutique en y réalisant des agrandissements successifs, puis en acquérant le futur “Palais Saadien”. Et très vite, de nouveaux lieus verront le jour : “Galerie Le Pacha”, “Palais de La Ménara” et “Palais Twirza”.

_The story of the Maison Abouothman began in a modest boutique in the Marrakesh Medina of the 40s, the “Château des Souks”, where Hadj Kabour and his elder brother sold a wide range of Arab and Berber carpets. Wandering the cooperatives and villages of the Atlas Mountains, they gave to weave, and sought to unearth authentic Azilal, Beni Ouarain, Boucherouite, Kilims, Mrir’t, and all other sorts of old and precious pieces.

At the end of the 70s, the son of Hadj Kabour, Hadj Abderrazak, widens the offer by carrying out a series of enlargements, then by acquiring the futur “Palais Saadien”. And shortly after, new places followed: “Galerie Le Pacha”, “Palais Menara” and “Palais Twirza”.
